It’s time for some fun!

“I want to be defined by the things I love. Not the things I hate nor the things I’m afraid of. I just think that you are what you love.”

— Taylor Swift

Hi, I’m Cecilia! It’s so wonderful you’re here.

While I am incredibly passionate about school, work, and extracurricular activities, this is a page that hosts many of the hobbies, activities, and life events that have been integral to shaping who I am.

Outside of the typical school or work week, you can often find me hiking trails in Vancouver (or now running somewhere in Philly), curling up with a good book, or having conversations about the world and big ideas with friends over tea! I've also been avidly working on publishing my completed manuscript from 2019; “Coming Up for Air,” is a series of creative non-fiction essays on the process of tackling unexpected health events.

I’ve had so much fun putting this page together and my hopes are that you’ll find joy in reading it!

A big win!

While interning at PFM (my first professional office job), I completed my ‘Coming Up For Air’ manuscript on my twentieth birthday.

  • Book Recommendations

Reading has always been a big part of my life. Growing up, I would read as my life depended on it because nothing was more exhilarating than the invitation to enter into a new world, a new life.

Reading remains a constant in my life because it is an opportunity for me to understand another’s lived experiences. Words have the power to shape and create change. In the world we live in today, it’s so much more important to remain in tune within the realm of words. Through journalism, podcasts, books, and other mediums because words or more accurately language is so important in every aspect of our lives. Remaining invested in what’s happening and what has happened and always keep searching, exploring, and asking is crucial to meeting people where they are as well as discovering who we truly are.

  • Interesting Articles

I’m an avid reader but I also have a bad habit of getting sucked into the online vortex of articles. Does that ever happen to you? Recently, a professor of mine told me about Notion which is a gift because I now have an efficient and beautiful way of storing articles I find fascinating, heart-felt, or interesting.

  • Experience Recaps

I was twelve when I started my first blog ajourney2success. Writing has always been a pivotal part of how I process this world and understand those around me. Blogging became an opportunity to turn my experiences of being bullied in elementary and soon later, early high-school, into something uplifting for other students like me who might have felt very alone. Overtime, I felt more comfortable to share about experiences in my life in hopes that they might provide some sort of insight or helpful reflections for those seeking to get involved in their schools or communities. While many of these articles are more than five years old and haven’t been updated, I hope my candid reflections may be interesting to some (especially teens or younger adults)!

In the fall of 2018, I co-hosted a benefit art gala for the BC Women’s Foundation! I brought some of my paintings together for a quick photo op :-)
